As part of a public realm improvement programme, objectif have been commissioned to develop a bespoke typography for Catford Broadway, a local high street which also hosts a weekly market. We designed a typeface that is based on 12 geometric elements, which allowed it to be waterjet cut in limestone and set into the porphyry pavement at each shop forecourt. As such the typeface is literally ‘grounded’ in the site and provides a subtle yet enduring identity. The street is book ended by two wall signs.
